About ENEL and Mr. Francesco Starace

ENEL S.p.A., the world third largest power company, is the largest national public utility enterprise of Italy. As the top power supplier of Italy, ENEL has a total installed capacity of 45 million kW, which covers about 30 million power users. Besides, ENEL is the second largest gas supplier of Italy, supplying gas for 1.9 million users. Presently, ENEL has become a leading company in global renewable energy utilization, playing an active role in the Spain, north America and Latin America areas.

Being one of the largest emitters among EU power companies, the annual CO2 emission average of ENEL hit 60 million tons in the past three years. According to statistics, the annual CO2 emission reduction credits ENEL will purchase during the first commitment phase (2005-2012) of Kyoto Protocol amounts to 5 to 15 million tons. In response to this severe situation, ENEL has adopted different strategies, having established bilateral cooperation in environment and energy field with many countries in the world.

        意大利国家电力公司ENEL是全球第三大电力公司，也是意大利最大的国有公共事业企业。作为意大利第一大电力供应商，在国内拥有超过4500万kW 的总装机容量，约3000万用电客户；同时，ENEL也是意大利第二大天然气销售供应商，为190 万用户提供天然气。目前，ENEL已成为全球再生能源利用方面的先导企业，在西班牙、北美和拉丁美洲等地区有广泛影响。

        作为欧盟电力排放大户，ENEL在过去三年中CO2年均排放量高达6000 万吨。据初步统计，ENEL在《京都议定书》第一承诺期间（ 2005-2012年）每年须采购的 CO2 减排额将达 500- 1500 万吨。在这种严峻的挑战下，ENEL积极采取了应对《京都议定书》的多样化战略，并同世界许多国家展开了环境能源领域的双边合作。

SWIMER Phase II work deployed by joint efforts of Italian and Chinese experts

On April the 25 to 26, 2005, the Sustainable Water Integrated Management of the South-North Water Diversion Project East Route (SWIMER) Phase II Kick-off and Coordination Meeting was held in Beijing. Present were 40 experts engaged in the projects.

During the two-day meeting, brought under discussion were topics including the organization and management framework of SWIME Phase II, the schedule of the project and key dates, the communication and coordination methods between experts, the model system of the project and the selection of experimental unit, etc. As the meeting drew to end on April 26, the Italian and Chinese experts reached general agreement on the issues discussed, which has laid solid foundation for the smooth implementation of SWIMER Phase II.

        2005年4月25日至26日，中意专家在北京召开了《SWIMER项目第二阶段开工和协调会》，就项目第二阶段的组织和管理框架、项目的整体进度安排、时间节点、专家之间的沟通与协调方法、项目中的模型体系和试点地区的选择等问题进行了讨论。会议结束前，中意专家就本次会议需讨论的问题基本达成一致，为下阶段工作的顺利进行作好了铺垫。
