The 2018 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) was held in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse of Beijing from November 1st to 3rd, 2018. The theme of this year’s AGM was “Innovation for a Green New Era”. In particular, one roundtable meeting on “Low-Carbon and Circular Economy for Green” and eight Open Forums (namely “Green Belt and Road and SDGs”, “Environmental Governance for the Ocean”, “Beautiful China 2035”, “Green Consumption for Green Transformation”, “Addressing Climate Change through Innovative Development Paths”, “Post 2020 Biodiversity Conservation”, “Innovation-Drive Green Urbanization”, and “Green Development Innovation for the Yangtze River Economic Belt”) were held. During all sessions, participants discussed over the Work Report 2018 and Work Plan 2019, and argued on the 2018 CCICED Issues Paper as well as the Council’s draft policy recommendations to the government of China.
The Director General of the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea, Mr. Francesco La Camera, took part to the scheduled meetings as Council Member, and gave his contribution to the drafting of innovative recommendations which will eventually be submitted to the Chinese government. Also, he participated as Panelist to the Open Forum named “Addressing Climate Change by Innovating Development Pathways”.
The China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) was founded in 1992 as a high-level international advisory body with the approval of the Government of China. Along with rapid economic and social progress, the Council has witnessed and taken part in China's historic shifts in its development philosophy and model. Over its 26-year evolution, the CCICED has developed a unique approach to policy research on environment and development, which involves close cooperation between Chinese and global leaders.
